With about 46 teams coming in from all over the country, we will need a lot of help to make the 2019 Nationals a success.
We are looking for lawyers, legal professionals and community members to serve on judging panels, usher competitors through our courthouses, serve as room liaisons, and help coordinate team registrations and events.
Judging Panel Volunteers
The four preliminary rounds of competition will take place in the Athens-Clarke County Courthouse and Classic Center on Friday and Saturday. There will be 23 trials happening simultaneously and each trial will be overseen by a panel including a Presiding Judge and three Evaluators. In all, we will need 92 panel members per round. We need YOU!
- Rounds I and II will take place on Friday, May 17
- Rounds III and IV will take place on Saturday, May 18
There will be an orientation and breakfast or lunch served prior to each Round. In addition, panel volunteers and a guest will be invited to the Judging Panel Reception at the Richard B. Russell Building Special Collections Library Friday evening. Please consider serving for more than one round of competition if your schedule permits.
Accommodations: A room block with negotiated rates has been set up for panel members wishing to stay the night in Athens. We will post a link to the reservation system once it is ready.
Event Volunteers will serve a vital role in the success of our competition. We need people to help with registration, managing events, and assisting teams and spectators as they are traveling to and from the courtrooms and venues. We also need people willing to serve as Courtroom Liaisons who will be assigned to judging panels and ensure that score sheets are collected and returned to Competition Staff.
If you want to help but aren’t quite ready to commit, please fill out the information below. We will contact you with more information.
